Fred's 'plumb' draw!
Pensioner Fred Birch had an extra spring in his step after he scooped the first prize in a charity raffle organised by a Master Plumbers Association.
Fred won a Nintendo Wii games console, complete with Fit Board, at the Nelson, Colne and District Master Plumbers Association Annual Dinner Dance.
The star prize was kindly donated with thanks to James Hargreaves (Plumbers Merchants) Ltd of Burnley along with Broag-Remeha boilers. Carl Bridge, the company's Purchasing Director, said the dinner dance held at the Higher Trapp Hotel in Simonstone was a major success - “it was a great night and we were proud to be one of the main sponsors, this event has been hugely successful over the years and we want to make sure it continues in the future."
In addition to the raffle and the dinner dance, the 130 guests who attended the event were also treated to a half hour comedy routine from Barrowford plumber and part-time stand-up comic Gerald Holden.
