Broag-Remeha and People 1st put green initiative first
Broag-Remeha are delighted to announce the success of their carbon offsetting scheme with People 1st a year on from when they signed up to the ground-breaking green initiative
Broag-Remeha became the first boiler manufacturer in the UK to join a carbon offsetting scheme in 2007 when they signed a trailblazing agreement with ClimateCare, a world leader in the field of carbon offsets, to offset carbon emissions produced by its Remeha Avanta range of condensing boilers.
They developed a built-in carbon offsetting program for their customers, of which Slough-based People 1st was the first ALMO in the South of England to sign up to towards the end of 2007. Under the ground-breaking scheme, Broag-Rehema pledged to offset one tonne of CO2 with ClimateCare for each new boiler purchased by People 1st.
People 1st have now confirmed they have offset a total of 331 tonnes of carbon emissions with Broag-Remeha in 2008, which has been awarded to ClimateCare's C02 reduction projects in order to help reduce the rate of global climate change.
Mike Freeman, Domestic Sales Director of Broag-Remeha was pleased to handover the payment for ClimateCare on behalf of People 1st commenting that:
"People 1st is an exceptional organisation that have already been working hard to reduce their carbon emissions to reduce Slough's impact on the environment. By completing their first year of our highly successful carbon offsetting initiative, they have added significantly to their green initiative accomplishments and we are delighted to have had their support in making this significant contribution to combating climate change. We look forward to working closely with People 1st and continuing with this outstanding project in 2009".
Chair of People 1st, Sue Morris, also commented, "This is a positive step for the environment. The agreement while emphasising the global dimension of reducing carbon, also represents very good news closer to home for our tenants. The initiative is delivering excellent value for money with respect to competitive pricing and product reliability."
